Woodworking Class

Emmit and Asher both received woodworking kits as part of their Hannakuh presents. We decided to do a special project that included lots of hammering, drilling, and screwing.

Happy Birthday to Dennis aka Papa Bear

my favorite thing about all these photos is that they were all taking while the four of us were supposedly playing checkers and I think Dennis won even will all this distraction. This is just a glimpse of one of his many roles in our lives......

"My favorite thing about Papa is that I love him" Emmit
"Papa's favorite thing to drink is water and wine" Emmit
"Papa is 23 years old today"
"My favorite thing about Papa is......and he will be riding six white horses when he comes" Asher

Dennis is a phenomenal Papa. He is the apple of their eye, the horse for their knights, the reader of endless stories, the player of hide and go seek, the maker of special early morning breakfasts, the one that gets up in the morning with them, the rough houser and for all that and more Emmit and Asher say huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAREST PAPA WE LOVE YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE REALLY OLD NOW.

Are we in Buffalo????? Record breaking cold on Orcas

I am catching up on photos so this is yesterday. Today it is too cold and the kids tried to play outside but came back in rather quickly.

Winter Spiral of Light

It was a tear jerking and awe inspiring event to watch my own children walk the spiral to light their own little candle. I have been to many Advent or Winter Spirals of Light at various Waldorf schools but never before have I seen one done so flawlessly. The awe and magic of the night filled everyone's eyes and the room was so perfectly quiet except for the lovely music and singing. The photos are blurry due to Dennis not wanting to use the flash but you get the idea.

Knights and Cinderellas

Here we have a glimpse of the knights that we live with and Asher's new cape! Emmit wanted me to make sure I told everyone that Knights love to eat homemade biscotti!!! They also love to work hard and I found a great job for the.....scrubbing the fire place. They love to do it and it always needs it from all the ashes.

Artisan Faire at Odd Fellows on Orcas

l

so this is what I have been sewing like crazy for these last few months with my dear new friends Sara and Krista!!!! I will be updating my 1000markets site soon with new things for sale. We all were so happy with the success of the weekend. Dennis had a booth too and made some good sales and lot of contacts. Send all in need of wedding photographers and anything involving a camera, design and the such his way.

visits with the cousins

i
I am including this one since it is backs of heads of her kids but this was my favorite of all the activities. My mom hired her marimba playing friends to come and play music and the kids were completely entranced and our house was filled with amazing music and the smells of fish cakes cooking!
u
Sadly my dear sister doesn't like to have her kids photos on the web which I totally understand but you guys are seriously missing out on some amazing photos of the five cousins ages 1,2,3,4 and 5 hanging out at the beach, eating food and playing marimbas. I will be sending the complete set to Marci so you can ask her for the ofoto link if you can't stand not seeing them.

random shots and glam shots

Dennis is having a lot of fun preparing for the launch of his new photo business in a more formal way so anyone hanging out at our house for long gets dressed up and pushed in front of the back drop. Those with wedding gowns are strongly encouraged to visit.
I absolutely love these shots with Asher. He is changing before our eyes and gone is the nursing baby and now we have two very distinct kids. A great example of this is after one particular Brave Knight of the Waterfall story about how he named his horse, Emmit pondered what he would name his horse and settled on "Love" with that endearing smile on his face whereas Asher declared "I would name my horse Poopy Horse". Later he changed his mind to calling his horse "Doggy" and then moments later "Rainbow". Asher likes to insert "Poopy or Yucky onto most words or names these days" He has a huge sense of humor and delights in agitating anyone with it. He takes very little seriously.

Snakin' at the top of our hill
Visiting Rich and Maryjane at their home on the Morningstar. We are loving having them here and Maryjane is mentoring Emmit's teacher. She was coincidentally my first Waldorf mentor and is one of those people that I have been in awe of and so honored to know for a long time.

Moran State Park Waterfall Hike

The kids beg to do this hike and we have been doing this same hike for years. From this waterfall our latest bedtime stories have developed about the Brave Knight of the Waterfall. The Otter Stories have currently been replaced do to absolute obsession in this house with Knights. I think the very first knight story was told on this hike. The two of them can entertain themselves for hours with sticks and water and their combined imaginations. The fishing was good!
