A Spark of Light at the End of a Long October
Well, for some reason October was a hard month for us and yet here we are, both boys cozy in bed, soft music playing, an extra hour to relax with and November is almost here. The surprise Oct. 12 & 13th storm left us without power for nearly 6 days and it was cold and a bit trying toward the end. My mom was here and thank goodness too since she is accustomed to much rougher living. She kept trying to convince us to figure out a way to put a wood stove in our apartment though. At one point she even contemplated our carpeted, non functional fireplace to see if it could create heat. Thus Emmit's surgery was postponed so instead of being here for his recovery, my mom helped us stay sane though the power outage. Emmit's surgery was over a week ago and today was the first day that we got a glimpse of our happy go lucky and very silly son. He has been so whiney and clingy since the surgery that Dennis and I were starting to look into the return policy but we couldn't seem to find where we filed it. Asher is finally getting over a bad upper resperatory infection. Both boys are growing in leaps and bounds. Emmit's new thing is that he wants to try to read books aloud to us. He is facinated with words and pretending to read things. He has also become quite attached to his Holga camera and is quite often with it. Dennis is determined to develop the film and see what masterpieces will unfold. Asher has discovered his voice and oh my is it ever loud and high pitched. He squeals and is so delighted by his own voice that each squeal seems to increase in volume and excitement. He is starting to delight in toys and grab at them when he isn't stuffing his hands into his mouth. He has bright big eyes just like Emmit. He is currently hitting the scale at a solid 16 lbs. and is now 26". Emmit is holding out at 24 lbs. but we are hoping he will start to gain more now that his tonsils are gone. We miss my mom so much and having her here has sparked a renewed homesickness for the NW. We are so excited to be heading back there for a whole month in Dec./Jan. So that is the update for today and some photos to follow soon too. Oh and Dennis's latest show is absolutely amazing. We are so proud of him. Emmit, though, likes to tell all his friends that it was really he that took some of the pictures!

More September Pics

Emmit the Gnome. I can't resist making fun hats since he loves to wear them. I think they will both be gnomes if we do anything that requires a Halloween costume.

Aunt Amy was just here for a visit this last weekend and we all loved having her here. She taught Emmit all about makeup and he is now quite addicted to chapstick! Asher loved her magic touch and we hope to see her again soon. Nana Rivkah arrives on Oct. 12th for 10 days to help while Emmit has his surgeries.

Sweater Legs- my own personal line of sweater pants I have been making and ha ha ha I will dress them in them until they protest profusely. For now they love having cozy legs!

Ah the joy of matching outfits. If my sisters and I had to wear them then so will these two! Oh and Emmit declares, "I am the big brother" despite the fact that Asher is determined to out weigh him as soon as he can. He is now over 15 lbs.!!!!

Head Shot at 10 weeks. None of us can stop kissing those cheeks.

My three boys. And despite what this blog seems to present, Dennis is not always naked! Asher loves his purple gdiapers.
