Happy thanksgiving from Marcia's

We just returned from cousin Marcia's house in Cleveland where we spent Thanksgiving and got to see lots and lots of cousins (Ann, Dan, Amy, Casey, Jordan, Josh, Jennifer, Cindy, Carol, Marcia, Les). Our apartment was 37 degrees when we got home so we are still defrosting. Our cuboards are stocked up from Trader Joes and we all feel like we have had a long warm vacation. We are 7 weeks pregnant and Jesica feels as pukey as can be! Otherwise we are all good and getting cozier by the minute as the house warms up!

A November walk in Delaware Park

Frederick Law Olmsted believed parks were places where city dwellers could enjoy scenery designed to refresh and delight the eye, and through the eye, the mind and spirit.

This philosophy inspired Buffalo's park and parkway system—a wealth of cultural gems that sparkle in virtually every neighborhood. In Buffalo, Olmsted created the first of its kind—an interconnected park system that is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Murphy Orchards

We take a drive to the farm with our friends: Melisa,
Bob, Daisy, Anthony, Apple, and Ramona to pet
animals and pick apples. Had Dennis let go, Emmit
would have headed straight into the field with the horses.
Emmit is wearing his new orange monkey hat Momma made him last night.
Caught in the act of something. Doesn't he look
like he is being a bit sneaky?
Emmit is lucky to have made some
really special friends here in Buffalo.

Griffis Sculpture Park

Emmit and the giant mushrooms.
Figurative sculptures dancing in the water.

On sunday, September 11, 2005 we travelled to the Griffis Sculpture Park, about 40 minutes from Buffalo.
It was a perfect fall day and a wonderful place to visit and celebrate art, nature, and our family. The park is a generous gift from the Griffis family and we look forward to visiting it many more times in the years to come.

Photo from Emmit's First Birthday

First Cousin's

Papa DeHart just began this brand new blog because he misses Jesica and Emmit dearly as they travel in the west to see family and friends. More importantly, we have began ths site so that we can keep you, our family and friends, connected to us and our adventures. Welcome to the first entry!

To your right is a photograph that cousin Julie Sweedler sent of the Sweedler first cousins (- David) taken at Rebecca's Bat Mitvah last week.

Jesica and Emmit have been traveling for just under two weeks now and have spent time in Half Moon Bay, Palo Alto, Orcas Island, and now Seattle. They have had many adventures and papa DeHart in Buffalo misses them dearly. They will be home
on Saturday, September 3, and he can't wait! Emmit has now learned several new words on this trip including new
signs!
